TrayStatus is a helpful tool designed to improve your computer's system tray (the area near your clock). It adds visual indicators to show you the current status of your keyboard keys and hard drive activity, acting like a virtual set of dashboard lights. TrayStatus can show real-time hardware usage and display the status of keys like Caps Lock, Num Lock, Scroll Lock, Kana, Alt, Ctrl, Shift, and the Windows key right in your taskbar.
What TrayStatus Does
After running TrayStatus, it adds icons to your system tray for things like:
Num Lock: Tells you if your number pad is active.
Caps Lock: Tells you if you are typing in all capital letters.
Scroll Lock: Shows the status of the Scroll Lock key.
Hard Drive Activity: Shows how fast your disk is reading or writing (accurate to 0.1MB/s).
For example, one icon might show that Caps Lock is on. Another might show both Caps Lock and Num Lock are active at the same time.
This is especially useful if your keyboard is hidden in a desk drawer or doesn't have its own light bulbs—you can check your settings without ever looking away from your screen.
