1. Browsers
If you have other browsers installed, CCleaner will display a section for each. Similar to Cleaner – Internet Explorer, it also has options for cleaning temporary files, cookies, history, etc.
For example, if you have Mozilla Firefox installed, it will display a Firefox/Mozilla section, along with options for Cookies, Internet History, Internet Cache, Download History, Saved Form Information, and Compact Databases.
2. Applications
This option includes third-party software that you have installed but is not categorized under the Internet section. Or some utility tools, such as CD/DVD burning software and word processing software.
3. Internet
This option includes browser add-ons, such as Flash, Google Toolbar, instant messaging software, and firewalls.
4. Multimedia
This option includes media players and browser-attached media players. For example: Windows Media Player, Adobe Flash Player.
5. Utilities
This option includes some utility programs, such as file compression managers, partitioning tools, and spyware scanners.
6. Windows
This option includes some software that comes with Windows systems and may generate a "My Recent Documents" log. For example, Paint and WordPad. However, this feature was removed in version V5.0 because it generated very few junk files.
7. Group Policy
This option can clean up junk files generated by Windows Group Policy and is a new feature in version V5.0.
8. Registry
Registry integrity. By default, all options in this section are selected. It is recommended that you clean up using the default options. When cleaning the registry, CCleaner will remind you to back up the registry for future recovery in case of problems. For related settings, please refer to Options – Advanced.
Settings: This section allows you to change CCleaner's basic settings. This includes selecting the language, whether to start on boot, adding a right-click menu, automatically checking for updates, file deletion methods, and which drives to erase for remaining space.
Cookies: This section allows you to freely select which cookies to retain. CCleaner will not delete them during cleaning. For example, you can choose to keep cookies for frequently visited websites.
9. Cookies
Custom: This section allows you to freely select the files to delete and the folders to empty. CCleaner will delete these items during cleaning.
Exclusion: This section allows you to freely select the folders, files, and registry entries to exclude. CCleaner will not delete these items during cleaning.
10. Advanced
This section allows you to change CCleaner's advanced settings. This includes displaying detailed scan results, temporary file deletion rules, hiding warning messages, closing the program after cleanup, displaying prompts for registry backup issues, minimizing to the system tray, and saving all settings to an INI file.
Regarding "Save all settings to an INI file"—this option saves CCleaner's settings information to a configuration file. You can copy this configuration file to the CCleaner installation folder on another computer for convenient use of the original configuration information.
