Description

Editor's Review

A lightweight disk defragmentation tool designed to keep Windows systems running smoothly.

Auslogics Disk Defrag is a professional and highly effective disk optimization tool created by Auslogics. It doesn't take up much memory, features a clean and friendly interface, and is very easy to use without any complicated settings. It uses a super-fast engine to quickly organize the data on your hard drive, regardless of the drive's size. It also includes smart optimization algorithms and technology that can clean up your drive while your computer is booting up! Auslogics Disk Defrag lets you see which files are the most "fragmented" (broken into pieces) and shows exactly where they are on a visual disk map. This helps you clean up leftover data bits, tune your PC for top performance, and make your hard drive work much faster. If you want a speedier computer, download it and give it a try!

Key Features

1. Super-Fast Engine

As one of the world's fastest defrag tools, it usually takes less than 10 minutes to process an average-sized hard drive.

2. Merge Free Space

It combines scattered bits of empty space into one large block, which prevents new files from being broken up into pieces.

3. List Fragmented Files

You can see a list of exactly which files are messy and where their pieces are located on the disk map.

4. Defrag Specific Files or Folders

Save time by choosing to fix only the specific files or folders you want, rather than the whole hard drive.

5. Work Your Way

Use the simple "one-click" default settings or customize the look and behavior of the program to fit your needs.

6. Industry-Recognized Quality

Auslogics technology is proven safe and effective through many tests; it is used by PC manufacturers and recommended by experts.

Common Questions (FAQ)

1. What is the difference between "Simple Defrag" and "Defrag and Optimize"?

Unlike a simple cleanup, the "Optimize" mode uses several advanced techniques: it combines free space, moves important system files to better spots, and clears out specific system areas (MFT) to improve speed. This mode is usually off by default but can be turned on in the settings.

2. Can I use this on very large disks (several terabytes)?

Yes. The program has a powerful engine designed to handle multi-terabyte drives easily.

3. What is the MFT?

The Master File Table (MFT) is like the "index" or "table of contents" for your hard drive. It stores information about every file and folder. If the index is messy, the computer slows down. We are currently working on a way to "defrag" this index in future versions.

4. Does it work on RAID setups?

Yes, Auslogics Disk Defrag works with RAID disks just fine, as the system treats them like normal storage.

5. Which temporary files will be deleted?

If enabled, the program clears out "junk" files from your User Temp folders and Windows Temp folders before it starts. This makes the cleaning process much faster.

6. Why does the program skip some files?

Usually, files are skipped because they are currently being used by another open program. It's best to close all apps before starting. Some files are skipped because they are critical system files that cannot be moved. Also, if your disk is very full or the free space is in tiny pieces, the program might not have enough "elbow room" to move huge files like movies. Running "Defrag and Optimize" usually fixes this.

7. What is the "No free space found" error?

The program needs a big enough "gap" to move a file into. If your empty space is split into tiny holes, large files can't fit. "Defrag and Optimize" fixes this by pushing all the empty space together. For best results, try to keep at least 10% of your disk empty.

8. I have an SSD. Will the program recognize it, and is it safe?

Yes, your SSD is safe. The program automatically detects if you have an SSD. Instead of a "regular" defrag (which isn't good for SSDs), it performs a special "SSD Optimization" that helps the drive last longer and run better. You can still force a regular defrag if you really want to, but it's not recommended.
