Editor's Review

Send files quickly, safely and easily between computer and mobile devices.

Flying Carpet Official Version is a highly secure and reliable wireless encrypted file transfer tool. It enables wireless encrypted file transfers through automatically configured ad-hoc networks, requiring no network infrastructure (such as access points, routers, or switches). Fully compatible with Mac, Linux, and Windows, it achieves speeds exceeding 120 Mbps, making wireless file transfer simpler and more convenient than ever!

Feature Overview

Cross-Platform: Supports Linux, Mac, and Windows.

Flying Carpet Official Version allows transferring multiple files at once, and if a transfer is interrupted or canceled, no progress is lost.

Speed exceeds 120 Mbps (when laptops are placed close together).

Does not use Bluetooth or your local network—connects directly from wireless chip to wireless chip.

Files are encrypted during transmission.

Supports large files (uses less than 10 MB of memory when transferring a 4.5 GB file).

No installation required and has no dependencies.

Offers interoperable GUI and CLI versions.

Important Notes

The Mac version is a standard .app bundle. The Linux version is an executable that writes dependencies to a temporary location and runs from there. The Windows version is a .zip file containing an .exe and other dependencies. I am working on a better solution for Windows. Previously, when using wxWidgets, it was a standalone .exe, but this is no longer possible after migrating to Qt. Your patience is appreciated.

64-bit only. Supported operating systems: macOS 10.12+, Windows 7+, and Linux Mint 18. Due to limited testing hardware, if you've tried it on other platforms, please let me know if it works.

Disable your wireless internet connection while using it (not required on Windows when receiving).

On Mac: If system settings prevent running unsigned applications, you may need to right-click and select "Open".

On Windows: If you encounter a Windows SmartScreen warning, click "More info" and then "Run anyway". You may also need to disable Wi-Fi Sense.

I need help testing Linux and supporting non-Debian distributions! Currently, it's only confirmed to work on Mint 18, and only with wireless cards/drivers that support ad-hoc networks via nmcli.

After completing or canceling a transfer, Flying Carpet should automatically reconnect to your previous wireless network. However, this will not happen if the program freezes, crashes, or the window is closed during operation.
