Turn any phone, tablet or spare laptop into a wireless second monitor—no cables, no dongles, no Apple ecosystem required.
What Is Deskreen?
Deskreen is an open-source, cross-platform screen-mirroring tool. Share your Windows, macOS or Linux desktop to any device that has a browser—iOS, Android, Chromebook, even a Raspberry Pi—over your local Wi-Fi.
Key Features
- Zero-hardware: pure software solution, no HDMI, no adapters
- Truly universal: sender apps for Win/Mac/Linux; receiver = any modern browser
- End-to-end password protection keeps unwanted viewers out
- Cast to multiple receivers simultaneously—great for classrooms or meeting rooms
- UI fully translated to Chinese (and 20+ other languages)
Why Use It?
Need an extra screen while coding? Want students to see your demo without a projector? Deskreen gives you Apple Sidecar-style freedom without forcing you to buy new hardware or stay inside Apple’s ecosystem. Latency is low because everything stays on your local network.
3-Step Quick Start (macOS Example)
- Install Deskreen, grant Screen Recording permission, launch.
- App displays QR code + local URL; scan or type it on your tablet/phone.
- Hit Allow, choose entire screen or a single window—done.
Heads-Up
First launch shows a full-screen “release notes” page in English—just click the green button to skip. Deskreen is view-only; you can’t control the computer from the receiving device (mirror mode only).
License
Deskreen is completely free and open source under AGPL-3.0. Grab the code, build your own flavour, or simply enjoy the pre-built binaries—no cost, no ads, no limits.
