Comodo Dragon is a Chromium-source browser rebuilt for security-first browsing. It strips out all Google tracking (RLZ, install-time stamps, crash reporting) and adds Comodo-built shields—domain-validated SSL indicators, real-time malware blocking, SecureDNS, and an on-screen keyboard—while keeping Chrome’s speed, extension support and custom themes. Built-in ad-blocking and cookie controls are enabled out of the box, so ads, trackers and suspicious files are stopped before they reach you. Lightweight (~80 MB), portable-friendly and fully compatible with the Chrome Web Store, Dragon gives you a faster, safer ride across the web without sacrificing the features you already rely on.
Key features
- Domain-validation engine flags weak or mis-issued SSL certificates to stop phishing.
- Zero tracking core—no unique client ID, RLZ or crash-upload traffic.
- SecureDNS option encrypts queries and blocks known-malicious domains.
- Built-in ad & pop-up blocker with per-site whitelist—no extensions needed.
- Virtual keyboard thwarts key-loggers when you enter passwords or card numbers.
- Real-time cloud check—every URL is verified against Comodo’s blacklist before it loads.
- Full extension support: install any add-on from the Chrome Web Store.
- Up to 15 % lower RAM usage than standard Chromium (same tab count).
- One-click importer pulls bookmarks, passwords and settings from any other browser.
- Portable mode: copy the install folder to a USB stick and run on any Windows PC.
Typical uses
- Online banking—weak certificates are highlighted; use the virtual keyboard for extra safety.
- Public Wi-Fi—turn on SecureDNS + incognito to block sniffers and ad-injection.
- Heavy download sites—cloud malware filter + no tracking reduces Trojan risk.
- Privacy-first surfing—pair with your own VPN or proxy; the browser itself leaks no ID.
Quick start
- Download the installer (or portable ZIP) from the official Comodo site.
- Launch Dragon, choose whether to enable SecureDNS, and import existing data if you wish.
- Open Settings → Privacy & Security → toggle Ad Blocker and Cookie controls to your taste.
- Visit Chrome Web Store to add any extensions you need—they install exactly as in Chrome.
- Right-click inside any password field and select “Virtual Keyboard” when you’re on sensitive sites.
Bottom line
If you like Chrome’s speed and extension library but want built-in protection against tracking, phishing and intrusive ads, Comodo Dragon delivers a hardened, ready-to-go solution—no extra plug-ins required.
